My favorite place on earth...guess where?

Happy New Year to All! Here's hoping that everyone had a blessed and Merry Christmas and that Santa brought you EVERYTHING you asked for. Our annual Christmas program was absolutely OUTSTANDING this year thanks to all of our talented students and their wonderful creativity. Check out one of the  slide shows giving you a glimpse of a few of those memorable moments. Also check out the "Gingerbread House How-To" slide show to see how creative the 8th grade was in making their gingerbread houses. These houses were then end product of the 8th grade's English class group How-To project. Next on the agenda will be individual How-To projects. These projects will assist students in becoming more comfortable with large group presentations and in turn will prepare them for their Science Expo oral presentation.

Although this holiday season is a time of rest and relaxation, remember to spend a little time working on those Science Expo projects. As a gentle reminder, all data and conclusions are due on Monday, January 9, 2012. It is always a good thing to start working on Powerpoint presentations as well....the Open House and Science Expo on January 29 will be here before you know it. The evaluation rubric for the Science Expo can be found elsewhere on this website. Students will have a hard copy of this rubric by Thursday, January 12, 2012.

This year not only will we once again participate in the annual Spelling Bee on January 20, but this will be our first attempt at a Geography Bee on January 11. Start refreshing your memory on all those geographic concepts that you learned years ago and that someone once told you that they would come in handy someday....someday has arrived.

Just before the holiday break, this year's Aquinas Academic Olympic Team was announced. This year's team includes:

Grade 7: Nikki D.~Religion, Chris F.~Science, Kobe G.~Social Studies, Kevin H.~Health & P.E., Adriene M.~Art, Kenzie R. ~English and Diana R.~Math

Grade 8: Suzanne C.~English, Haley H.~Science, Sara L.~Social Studies, Becca M.~Math, Casey R.~Health & P.E., Brianna R.~Religion and Nate V.~Art.

The Olympics will take place on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Cabrini High School. Congratulations and best of luck to our "winning" team.

The end of the second quarter is swiftly approaching on January 20 and report cands will be distributed on Friday, January 27.
