I was born and raised near Reading, Pennsylvania, which is approximately 1 1/2 hours northwest of Philadelphia in the heart of the Amish Country. I have a younger sister, and I am fortunate to have both my mother and sister as next door neighbors. As a young girl I enjoyed climbing trees, playing in the neighbor's fields, and playing the trombone in my high school band. Our band received recognition as "National Champions" my four years in high school.
Family
My family and I moved to Alamogordo in 1994. I have two married daughters, Jennifer and Heather, and three grandsons. Jennifer has been teaching at Alamogordo High School since 1995 and Heather, a former member of the Tiger Band, is an inclusion teacher at East Picacho Elementary in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
When I am not in the classroom I enjoy hiking, evening walks, weightlifting, working out with my Wii, reading, working on the computer, theater, movies, music, traveling, my Church, and spending time with my family. I have been on numerous cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, and Alaska in addition to numerous trips throughout the United States. I hope to share my experiences with my students throughout the school year with virtual field trips.
I am also a huge sports fan! I enjoy Eagles football and Hershey Bears and Philadelphia Flyers ice hockey, and I love attending New Mexico State University football games in the fall. GO AGGIES! I also enjoy listening to all types of music. I believe music is also important in the classroom, and I try to incorporate it into my students' learning.
I have several pets; a desert tortoise, a Blue Tongued Skink, and a cat named Candy.

Education
I received a Bachelor's Degree from New Mexico State University in Elementary Education with an endorsement in the field of Language Arts, graduating with Honors. I also received a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Technology in Education from Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. I implement technology throughout my classroom curriculum on a daily basis.
In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and as I work with my peers. I believe that great things can happen when we work together! Heights is a place where I feel like part of a strong community and part of a winning team.
