Number the Stars - World War II Research Projects

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

As a class we read the amazing story of one family’s struggle through the Holocaust in Nazi occupied Denmark.  As we read we learned many things about World War II and how the war affected families, and individuals.  Although the Holocaust was 60 years ago many stories live on about heroism, bravery, honor and peoples’ wills to survive against all odds.   For this project students were to think about 3 things that they would still like to know more about, concerning the Holocaust.  Once they choose their topic, they were paired with a student of similar interest to research the topic.  Students used books, magazines, encyclopedias and the Internet for their research, and in the end completed some very compelling, extremely powerful and very informative PowerPoint presentations.
