Monarch Teacher Network Video from Mexico March 8 - 15, 2008

Two weeks after I came back from Mexico the Monarch Teacher Network ran the 2nd and final trip to the Monarch Butterfly sanctuaries of 2008.  Along for the trip was videographer Ed Waters, known for his work on NJEA Classroom Close-up.  Mr. Waters was along for the trip to shoot video footage for a DVD that the Monarch Teacher Network will be releasing in August of 2008.  The first video from the trip was posted recently and gives us a taste of just what a magnificent trip this really is and the teaching and learning opportunities that teaching with Monarchs offers to teachers and our students.  For those of us who have been fortunate enough to have traveled to the Sanctuaries the footage and narration brings a tear to your eyes.  The footage is magnificent.  Netia Elam a biology teacher at Forest Park High School in Woodbridge Virginia, who I had the honor of working alongside for 3 days in the summer of 2007 offers narration that is not only from deep inside her heart but attempts to describe being in the Sanctuaries, which is very difficult to do if you've never been there, because the experience is so deeply personal, inspirational and spiritual.  I'll allow Netia and Ed Waters incredible video footage tell the story.
