English I

Welcome to English I!  In this class we will embark on multiple journeys as we learn about the various genres in literature.  We will stand on Juliet’s balcony and explore the meaning of love in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.  We will encounter Cyclops, Sirens, and Lotus Eaters with Odysseus as he travels thousands of miles to make his way home. We will learn to not only listen to the rhythm of Wordsworth and other famous poets, but we will write our own poems as well.  We will learn from other’s experiences while we read autobiographical pieces from Abraham Lincoln and Maya Angelou. Expect to read a great deal, write a great deal, and learn a great deal!

Use the online resources (listed on the left) to study and review the essential elements of nonfiction, poetry, short stories, drama, and grammar.
