Thanks! ALL HOMEWORK IS DUE FRIDAY UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. NO EARLY WORK WILL BE COLLECTED UNLESS THE STUDENT WILL NOT BE IN SCHOOL THE DAY IT IS DUE.

Dear Families, Homework will be assigned weekly. During five day weeks, students will get most assignments on Mondays and will be required to return work on Fridays. Dates will be adjusted for short weeks. If students get a 100% on their spelling pretest on Wednesday, they will not be required to take the final test on Fridays. Although a list is given weekly, spelling is emphasized throughout our day. The dictionary is a tool that now replaces “Best Guess Spelling”. A dictionary would make a great educational gift for your child and helps with the question “How do you spell_______?” ? Since most of the homework will be given at the beginning of the week, this is a wonderful opportunity to help guide your child in dividing up their work according to their schedule. Some students have practices, games, parties etc. Waiting until the last minute to study or complete work not only creates anxiety, but can give the message that they are completing work just to “get it done” rather than reinforcing a skill or learning something new. Sitting down and explaining how you use time management to get everything done in your daily life will help show your child that they can be responsible in their school work requirements and have time to have free time too. Lists and calendars have helped students in the past to keep track of their responsibilities. If you child seems to want a challenge in their homework (some students actually want extra!!) you can substitute the numbers in math problems, add words with the same spelling patterns, go to web sites listed on the class site or sequence from memory the fluency reading.
