During the week, students are able to earn "Behavior Bucks" for meeting their Each week, students work to earn Behavior Bucks for classroom jobs. Since each job is different, students may earn a different "salary" for the week. Behavior Bucks are also earned for following rules, having good character, helping others and reaching specific goals. Students can also earn "debits", which are subtracted from their weekly salary. At the end of each week, students add up their earnings and subtract their debits to calculate their weekly total. They may then turn in their Behavior Bucks to "buy" from the reward list. Among the items are extra free time, lunch with the teacher and sitting by a friend. At the beginning of the year, the whole class determines how much each item is worth. The class may also work as a community to earn class parties, lunchtime movies and a few minutes of extra recess. This year-long activity allows the students to learn about our third grade unit of Economics and practice math skills while being VERY MOTIVATED!
