Book Fair

We have 2 book fairs a year.  The book fairs help us raise money for our library and increase classroom libraries as well.  Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.

BOOK SWAP

Book Swap is a chance for you to bring in your gently used, read books and swap them for books to read over the holidays!  All books need to be in good condition, meaning no writing or colored pages, stains, or rips.  We have a Book Swap in the Fall and in the Spring.  Our Fall Swap will be held on November 13th!

RIF Distribution

RIF (or Reading Is Fundamental) distribution happens 3 times a year on our campus.  During RIF, every student gets to pick a free book to keep.  The BETA Chapter of Lockhart organizes and orders the books with the financial support of local business and community members.  Be sure to say thanks to a RIF sponsor if you meet one!

We have RIF distributions three times a year and all students receive a free book!   You can check out the press release about Lockhart's AWARD WINNING RIF program by visiting: http://www.rif.org/about/peh/default.mspx

Our RIF Distribution dates will be: Oct. 23, Jan. 29, and April 23.

Six Hour Reading Club encourages kids in grades K through 6 to complete six hours of recreational reading and rewards them with free admission tickets to participating Six Flags theme parks.   Plum Creek Elementary students will again participate in this program.  Watch for information this winter!

Birthday Books

Are you looking for the perfect gift for the kid who has everything?  Why not give him/her a gift that keeps on giving.  What could this amazing, too good to be true gift be…..a library book!  When you purchase a library book for your child we will put a special dedication plate in the book with your his/her name on it.  Then, your child will be the first person to check out this book.  He/she can also dedicate a book to someone else for his/her special day.  Teachers, students, and staff appreciate this gift that also improves our library.

ANNUAL HAIR DONATION

This year, we will be donating to the Pantene BEAUTIFUL LENGTHS.  The hair requirement is only 8 inches and they make wigs for the American Cancer Society.  You can find out more info about this wonderful opportunity by visiting http://www.beautifullengths.com/en_US/makethecut.jsp

Just 6 ponytail donations make a wig for a cancer patient.

We will hold our hair donation day in May.  Anyone can donate hair as long as it is at least 8 inches long and is not chemically treated.  We will send out more information as the date approaches, but until then, start growing that hair!
