Greetings! My name is Richard Anthony Ferrer Galian. I was born in the Philippines to two wonderful parents: German C Galian and Emma Ferrer Galian. I have 3 brothers and two sisters and I am the third among six kids. I had my high school education in the Philippines (La Salle GreenHills) and took my Bachelors (Pre-med Physics) and Masters (Chemistry) at De La Salle University, Philippines. I have varied interests which include the performing arts (vocal, piano, arrangement), visual arts (draw and paint), fitness (weight training, tennis, swimming, volleyball), and food (feed me anything... well, almost anything). In my 36 years of life experience, if there is one thing I would want to impart to the next generation - Get an education! Whatever your reasons maybe... an education is an integral part of one's life. It is the lifeblood of humanity. It is what makes us human. And hopefully, with that education - we come to the realization that we are all the same (yet so different). As a science educator, I try to impart to my students that the mark of an educated person is not the piece of paper one receives after years of hard work. But it is the application of what one has learned in that institution - respect, tolerance, patience, and most of all... kindness. The world we live in is a beautiful place. It is filled with the colors of life. The diversity, unity, and interaction of all living things is so complex we sometimes forget to appreciate the things that surrounds us. It is my hope that as I re-learn biology with my students this schoolyear - we learn to be more pro-active in our community, our family, and best of all, learn about ourselves so that we can be better. This year is an exciting year for us as we try to incorporate robotics into the biology curriculum (and projects in agriculture) and receive supplies from Baylor College of Medicine. On behalf of our students from batch 2012, we Thank You! To the biology class of 2009-2010 (batch 2013) and their family - this is my hope for the coming year.
