GOALS FOR AIR FORCE JUNIOR ROTC AT LOCKHART "Instill Values of Citizenship" "Service to the United States" "Instill Personal Responsibility and a Sense of Accomplishment" TEXAS EDUCATION CODE SUBTITLE F. CURRICULUM, PROGRAMS, AND SERVICES CHAPTER 28. COURSES OF STUDY; ADVANCEMENT SUBCHAPTER A. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS; CURRICULUM Sec.A28.001.AAPURPOSE.A It is the intent of the legislature that the essential knowledge and skills developed by the State Board of Education under this subchapter shall require all students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to read, write, compute, problem solve, think critically, apply technology, and communicate across all subject areas. The essential knowledge and skills shall also prepare and enable all students to continue to learn in postsecondary educational, training, or employment settings. Air Force Junior ROTC directly promotes the following in accordance with Texas Educational Law The State Board of Education and each school district shall foster the continuation of the tradition of teaching United States and Texas history and the free enterprise system in regular subject matter and in reading courses and in the adoption of textbooks. (our AFJROTC nitch) A primary purpose of the public school curriculum is to prepare thoughtful, active citizens who understand the importance of patriotism and can function productively in a free enterprise society with appreciation for the basic democratic values of our state and national heritage. The Air Force Junior ROTC program of LHS has been a "Distinguished Unit "for the past Three Years The Cadets of Lockhart High School Air Force Junior ROTC worked extremely hard and showed true team-work last year. Two of their accomplishments were..... Performing 2700 hours of community service to our Lockhart and Caldwell County residents! Cadets performed admirably during school year 2007-2008 receiving an "Exceeds Standards" the highest rating from headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC on our formal inspection conducted by Colonel Wolfgang Gesch. This garnered them the award of being a "Distinguished Unit with Merit for school year 2007-2008. For non-inspection school years, units can only be recognized as "Distinguished Units" TX-20002 achieved this status for SY-2006-2007, 2008-2009 HQ-AFJROTC inspections are accomplished every three years our next headquarters inspection will be due SY-2010-2011
