Grading Policy

EXAMS - There will be at least two tests and three quizzes per quarter. If more than two tests and AND more than three quizzes are given in a quarter, each student's lowest quiz grade will be dropped at the end of that quarter. Students may use their notebook for QUIZZES. Category point values are as follows:
Test - 50 points
Quiz - 25 points
Homework - 10 points
Midterm Exam - 100 points
Final Exam - 100 points To determine a cumulative average at any given time, you must divide the total earned points by the total possible points. Do not add individually-averaged percentage grades!! HOMEWORK - I will RANDOMLY check 5 homework assignments per quarter. If time permits in the quarter, I will check one "Make-Up" homework assignment. If an assignment is collected BEFORE we go over it in class, I will grade it based on completion (not correctness), and we will go over it in class when I return it. Frequently I will collect an assignment AFTER we have gone over it. In these cases, I will grade it based on the number of correct answers. It is the student's responsibility to correct homework when we go over it in class. I WILL NOT correct homework that we have already gone over in class. NOTEBOOKS - It is strongly recommended that students keep a neat, correct notebook for use when taking quizzes and for studying purposes.
