  P.A.L. (Program for Alternative Learning) is a program of M.C.S. designed to meet the needs of individual students.  Some students need an alternative to their grade- level language arts curriculum.  We offer a multi-sensory approach that was devised by Dr. Samuel Orton and Mrs. Anna Gillingham. It helps the student to make the critical connection between the individual sounds of the language and the written symbols of the language.  In connection with this, we also offer the handwriting method "Handwriting Without Tears".

The students receive the benefit of a small class environment for their language arts block while being part of their grade level classroom for the remainder of the academic day.
