Our Ensembles Our Ensembles

Instrumental Music students play in one of two ensembles.

The Beginning Band is designed for first year players and begins to meet in January.  All beginners participate period-no auditions or other requirements.  Students learn to follow a conductor and other necessary skills to begin playing in a group.  We perform in the Spring Concert.

The Concert Band is our advanced ensemble.  Students must have completed line 100 (winds) or the Military Street Beat (drums) to be eligible for membership.  Students must also have demonstrated good attendance in the Beginning Band and at lessons-good behavior is a must.  We generally perform 4 times per year, (Holiday Concert, Spring Concert, Band Festival, Graduation) so students must be able to learn music at a fast pace.  But don't let all of this scare you....we have fun too!  Our Concert Band has a proud history, having performed arrangements of works by Beethoven, Copland, Dvorak, Elgar, Gliere, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Rossini, von Suppe, John Philip Sousa, and many others.

All of our ensembles rehearse at the "magic hour":  7:45 a.m.
