. Week of March 15-19 Our Language Arts program has many components. We focus on reading, writing, spelling, grammar and vocabulary daily. This week, our story is "The Unsinkable Wreck of the R.M.S. Titanic". It is the story of two explorers viewing the wreck of the Titanic. They are the first ever to see the wreckage seventy-four years after its tragic collision. They find the ocean floor littered with personal items belonging to the passengers that serve as a reminder of the accident. Our Spelling words this week are words that have unusual spellings such as yacht and sergeant. Our vocabulary words are: cramped, debris, interior, ooze, robotic, sediment and sonar. This week will continue to use our supplementary vocabulary book, Vocabulary Workshop- Lesson 7. The children will be tested on these 12 extra vocabulary words each Friday. Our comprehension skill this week is graphic sources. We will review that these include charts, tables, maps, pictures, captions, etc. Graphic sources help us understand the text. Our grammar lessons this week will be on adjectives and articles. We will see that adjectives answer the questions How many? Which One? Which Kind? In Science, we are continuing our unit on astronomy. Our Chapter 3 test is on Monday. Chapter 4 finds us discussing the effect free fall has on an astronaut's body and how they are able to live in space. This week in Religion, we will be practicing for the Stations of the Cross. We will lead into our study of Reconciliation by reading the story of "The Prodigal Son". We continue to attend 11:00 Mass on Wednesday during Lent. Please join us if you can.
