All kindergarten classes visit the library for 25 minutes of instruction each week with the Media Specialists Ms. Staci Staples and Ms. Eloise Moore.

During these weekly visits, kindergarteners will:

  • Build preliteracy skills in prediction, sequencing and story patterns
  • Share and participate in stories of many genres and cultures
  • Respond to stories with a variety of activities
  • Identify the role of the author and illustrator and participate in author studies
  • Become familiar with basic library vocabulary
  • Learn personal responsibility skills in caring for books

The media center at the Baker County Pre-K/Kindergarten Center has hundreds of books and other resources available for teachers to check out.  Many books have Accelerated Reader (AR) Quizzes.
