Spanish IV Español IV
¡Que hablemos español todos los días!

Spanish IV is currently involved in an advanced review of Spanish III grammar, Lesson 2, Somos Asi Dos.

Week of December 1: TEST--CHECK THE 'TEST INFORMATION' SUBSECTION FOR IMPORTANT TEST INFORMATION!!!!!

Week of January 7--Integrated Performance Assessments  See sidebar for more details.

Note to all Visitors: Spanish IV is a total immersion class in which I present all lessons in the target language. In order for students to communicate either with me or with each other, they must use Spanish--to the best of their ability. My first quarter daily grade allows for their using a mixture of English and Spanish in asking and answering questions. As they become more familiar with the process, I will actively discourage them (and ultimately penalize their daily grade) should they use English expressions for words and expressions I have taught them throughout our three years together.

Spanish IV students nearly universally tell me that they understand the lessons, that they are becoming increasingly more comfortable at communicating both with me and with each other, and that most of their initial fears have begun to ebb. What can be better than that!!!

*For the language savy, our Microsoft platform does not allow for adding Spanish punctuation (tildas, accents, inverted punctuation). Their omission here is a failure of the site, not of the 'maestro'. Those included here were imported from/created on computers with MAC platforms.

Estudiantes de mi clase fantástica de Español IV:study your vocabulary D-A-I-L-Y: old, new & 'Vocabulario del Dia' comprise your vocab base!! There is nothing so frustrating (and so completely unnecessary) than your having to study hundreds of words the night before a test. Vocabulary is the springboard to understanding and excelling in grammar, speaking and writing in Spanish--especially in our total emersion environment!!! Learn new voabulary as I present it--in 7 to 9 word clusters and constantly review your vocabulary study pack, representing all of the terms and expressions we learned throughout our time together. THAT is the BEST way to guarantee not only a solid grade but also a solid core from which to express yourself in the target language. That IS why you're here, isn't it, to learn how to read, write, think and speak in 'esta  lengua más hermosa del todo el mundo'.¡Estudien Uds. todos los días, por favor! Es SU lengua; es SU futura. ¿No?

SPECIAL NOTE: Vocabulary quizzes can occur at any point during our study of the chapters of our text. If you are absent for any reason and return the day of a vocabulary quiz, you must take it. Vocabulary words are listed at the end of each chapter. (We use a BOOK; I do not pull vocabulary out of thin air!) It is your responsibility to keep track of our class' progress and to study the words we covered in your absence. Seniors should understand this by virtue of your being seniors. Please use common sense and keep abreast of the work you missed, especially basic vocabulary, when you are absent.
