1. Wednesday, May 2, 2012
Period 1: Today we learned how to find the area of a sector (part) of a circle. We started to work on the review for our test on Friday. Please continue to study for the test that we will take on Friday. Period 2: Today, students took a quiz on Area. Tomorrow we will begin to learn how to use trigonometry to find the area of polygons. Period 3 & 4: Today we went over homework on WS 10-2 (#1-3 and 13-15) and learned how to find area of trapezoids using Pythagorean Theorem, 30-60-90 triangles, and 45-45-90 triangles. We also learned how to calculate the area of a rhombus or a kite. Homework for this evening is WS 10-2 #4-12. Period 5/6: Today we went over the quiz on the Pythagorean Theorem and the homework from Tuesday on 30-60-90 Triangles. We reviewed Pythagorean theorem, 45-45-90, and 30-60-90 triangles for the quiz tomorrow.

Friday, February 24, 2012 1st period: Today we went over WS 6.3 that was assigned for homework on Thursday evening. Students were informed that they should expect a quiz on Monday on 6.2 and 6.3. 2nd period: Went over p. 288, which had been assigned for homework Thursday evening. 3rd period: Went over p. 288, which had been assigned for homework Thursday evening. 4th period: Went over p. 288, which had been assigned for homework Thursday evening. 5/6 period: Students took a quiz on naming the points of concurrency for angle bisectors, perpendicular bisectors, medians, and altitudes. Students learned how to set up equations as preparation for finding the lengths of medians and parts of medians.

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 1st period: Today we continued to practice finding the distance between two points in the coordinate plane using the distance formula. Students were given a worksheet to complete. This worksheet will be collected and graded on completion tomorrow. 2nd period: Students completed a test on sections 6 and 7 of chapter 3. 3rd period: Today we went over the homework assignment from Teusday evening. Students will have a test tomorrow on Chapter 3 Sections 6 & 7. 4th period: Today we went over the homework assignment from Tuesday evening. Students learned about slopes of perpendicular lines, how to determine if lines are perpendicular and writing the equations of perpendicular lines. The assignment for homework tonight is p. 178 #16-24 (excluding #23). There will be a test on Chapter 3 sections 6 & 7 on Friday, December 23. 5/6 period: Today students completed worksheets to practice writing the equation of a line in anticipation of the quiz tomorrow. Students put the solutions on the board and we went over all problems in detail. There will be a quiz tomorrow on Writing the equation of a line when given a point and the slope.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 ****PROGRESS REPORTS WERE SENT HOME TODAY IN ALL CLASSES!!!**** 1st period: Today we went over the homework on p. 195 #14-22 and took a quiz on the Pythagorean Theorem. Tomorrow we will continue to review the Pythagorean Theorem. 2nd period: Today we went over the assignment from last night. We continued to practice writing equations of parallel lines. 3rd period: Today we went over the homework from last evening. Tomorrow we will begin to discuss parallel lines and their slopes. 4th period: Today we went over the homework assignment from last evening. Tomorrow we will review how to write the equations of lines using point-slope form. 5/6 period: Today we took a quiz on slope and graphing using slope-intercept form. Tomorrow we will review graphing equations using intercepts and transforming equations into slope-intercept form. There is no homework tonight.

Wednesday, December 14, 2011 1st period: Class started today by going over the assignment from last night. We learned how to find the leg of a right triangle if given a leg and the hypotenuse and we learned how to identify Pythagorean Triples. Homework for this evening is p. 195 #14-22 and to study for the quiz tomorrow on the Pythagorean Theorem and Pythagorean Triples. 2nd period: Today we learned about the slopes and equations of vertical and horizontal lines. We also learned how to determine if lines are parallel from a graph and from 2 equations. We concluded the class by learning how to write the equations of parallel lines. Homework for this evening is p. 177 #1-15. 3rd period: Today we learned how to write the equations of lines when given two points and about the slopes and equations of vertical and horizontal lines. Homework for this evening is WS 3-6 #25-36, 45 and 46. 4th period: Today we learned about transforming equations into slope-intercept form. Homework for this evening is WS 3-6 #9-24, and 37-44. 5/6 period: Today we went over the homework on slope from last night. We learned about graphing the equations of lines in slope-intercept form. Homework this evening is p. 169 #1-4 and to prepare for a quiz tomorrow on slope and graphing using slope-intercept form.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 1st period: Today was 4-sight testing for 11th grade. There was no class. 2nd period: Today we went over last night's homework. Tomorrow we will learn about horiazontal and vertical lines and slopes of parallel lines. 3rd period: Today we went over the homework from last night. Tomorrow we will learn about writing the equations of lines when given 2 points and vertical and horizontal lines. 4th period: Today we learned about graphing lines using slope-intercept form and standard form (using intercepts). There is no homework tonight. 5/6 period: Today we learned how to find the slope of a line. The assignment for this evening is to complete p. 165 #1-9. Tomorrow we will learn how to graph lines in slope-intercept form.

The chapter 3 test that students took last week was returned and reviewed. 2nd period: Today we learned about concave and convex polygons and naming polygons. Students took a quiz on names of polygons. Monday we will continue working on the polygon angle-sum theorem. The remaining portion will be taken on Tuesday when we return. 2nd period: We played a game of review with Parallel lines and angles. 3rd period: Students completed a quiz on sections 1 and 2 of chapter 3. 4th period: Students completed a quiz on sections 1 and 2 of chapter 3. 5/6 period: There was no class today due to the early dismissal. Students were assigned worksheets 3-2 and 3-3 for homework. 3rd period: Today, we went over WS 3-1 and discussed theorems about parallel and perpendicular lines. Students are to complete WS 3-2 for homework this evening. 4th period: Today, we went over WS 3-1 and discussed to converse of each of the angle theorems. Homework for this evening is WS 3-2. 5/6 period: Today, we went over WS 3-1. Students were assigned to complete p 131 #11-16, 23-25.

We also learned the three major components of a good definition: 1) use clearly understood terms 2) is precise and 3) is reversible. A good definition can be written as a true biconditional.
