Art II- Sculpture
Mrs. Eldridge Room 070
The prerequisite for Sculpture II is Introduction to Studio or the equivalent. Students are encouraged to build upon their past experience and to further investigate the wide choices of media and construction possibilities to communicate their ideas in three dimensional form. This is done through research and class instruction. Students discuss their designs and models with the instructor and the techniques and processes involved to create the sculpture are set in motion. Individual instruction stresses the design elements and principles as well as craftsmanship and safety.
Each six weeks written and or oral reports are required. Students respond to and analyze their artworks and the artworks of others, thus contributing to the development of lifelong skills and making informed judgments and evaluations. They are to study and compare techniques and processes involved in using specific media for their sculptures.
Students are to produce three or more sculptures within a semester. The required number is related to the complexity of the ideas and materials selected. These works are to be a part of their personal portfolio. They should be kept in good condition and available for exhibits.
Grade: 40% class work, 25% practicum, 20% project and 15% tests

Sculpture II is the prerequisite for Sculpture III. Students are encouraged to build upon their past experiences and to further investigate the wide choices of media and construction possibilities to communicate their ideas in sculpture. Students may wish to expand their knowledge and skills in one medium or chose a new medium that is better suited to their ideas. They are also encouraged to relate their sculptures to the concepts they are exploring in their drawing class. Sculpture III students have enough experience and technical skills to solve visual problems by planning and attempting a variety of solutions. Evidence of growth in the quality of their designs and craftsmanship in their sculptures should be visible.
