January Curriculum
Curriculum for January 2012 We are looking forward to a new year filled with much learning and exciting new activities! Here are some of our planned lessons. January 3 Today we read our bible about the Feast of the Epiphany. Our project will be to make a crown and also a door hanger which reminds us that the entrance to our homes is a holy place. Your child will bring home a paper entitled “Epiphany Blessing”. January 5 Create snow men to decorate our bulletin boards January 10 Read about penguins and make a penguin puppet. January 12 We will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Day by reading . about him and his work. January 17 Together we will read Jan Brett’s fabulous book, The Mitten. We’ll play a relay game where we find our own hats and mittens. January 19 We will read about hibernation and make a bird feeder from pinecones to feed our feathered friends. January 24 A messy painting day! Today we paint bubble paper to make a blizzard. Then we’ll dance on some to make it pop! “Sounds” like fun! January 26 Today we meet with our Third Grade Buddies (Mrs. Bennett’s Class) to write winter stories. I"ll send home a sheet of paper for parent's to fill out to help us write a wintry story! January 31 Let's read The Missing Mitten Mystery! Where did that mitten go? I love a good mystery!
