Research studies show that

Education and reading are circular – the more a person has of one, the

better the development of the other.

In fact, the benefits of reading for pleasure are positively linked with the following literacy-related benefits:

  • Improved reading and writing ability
  • Improved reading comprehension and grammar
  • Increased vocabulary
  • Positive reading attitudes which are linked to achievement in reading
  • Greater self-confidence as a reader
  • Promotes fluency, vocabulary, and background knowledge.”

There is also evidence that reading for pleasure not only impacts on reading achievement but also increases:

  • general knowledge
  • a better understanding of other cultures
  • community participation
  • a greater insight into human nature and decision-making

So find a book you'd like to read and watch the world open up for you as your mind expands!!

Happy Reading!!
