Welcome to John F. Kennedy School and the 2009-10 school year.

I am proud to be John F. Kennedy's principal. We have a wonderful school with a warm, family feeling. If you ever have questions or concerns about anything at Kennedy, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have been in education since 1972. I have been a teacher in grades 2-9, a learning consultant, and a principal. I did my undergraduate work at Michigan State University and have a master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Supervision from Oakland University and a second master's degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Michigan.

In my personal life, I live in Waterford in the home in which I grew up, have two cats named Elvis and Gingersnap. I have a sister and brother, four nieces, a great nephew who is a police officer in Minot, ND with a lovely baby girl (a great, great niece!) and another great nephew who was born on September 10th, 2008. I love to garden, read, and visit with my neighbors who've known me since I was five years old!

My major goal as JFK's principal is to make sure your child(ren) are happy and are learning what they need to know to learn to be productive citizens of the United States. On paper, it sounds easy enough, but there can be bumps in the road on the way. Always know that lines of communication are open, and I need to hear from you when you are not happy about anything that happens within our school.

We are very proud of our volunteers at JFK. If you'd like to volunteer in your child's classroom, contact the teacher. If you'd like to be a volunteer reader, contact Paula Tucker at 248-586-8795.

Kennedy is a Michigan designated "Green School", thanks to a hardworking "Green Team" consisting of parents, staff and students. We will continue to maintain that status this school year. We always need more help in this and other committees. Please come to PTA meetings the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30PM to see how you can help.

JFK has many active scouting groups. If you'd like your child to be a scout, call the office and we can put you in touch with the appropriate leader. Again, have a wonderful school year! We're glad you're part of the Kennedy family!
