There will be a spring
sports parent meeting Thursday, March 4th
at 6:00pm in room 200. Please plan
on having your parents attend this meeting.
Parent volunteers are
needed for our home meets. Please have
your parents contact me if they do not attend this meeting and are interested
in helping.
All athletes are expected
to hold the highest sportsmanship and conduct at practice/meets. Unsportsmanlike conduct or negative conduct
of any sort will not be tolerated in any form.
Disciplinary action will be taken according to the infraction, at the
discretion of the coach.
The track team will follow
the plan laid out by CCSD for drug or alcohol abuse. All athletes will be eligible for random drug
testing. If an athlete fails a random
test at any point during the season, they will be removed from the team.
They are mandatory starting
Monday, March 2nd and start promptly at 1:45pm out on the
track field. Each athlete will be
required to have 10 official practices before they can compete. The expectations sheet must be signed and
returned before an athlete can compete.
All athletes will
participate in fundraising in order to benefit the team. Each team member is expected to raise $50 worth
of pledges or donations thru the Coronado Track-A-Thon. These monies are used for new equipment,
uniforms, sweats, invitationals, out-of-state meets, the
banquet, awards, and other team focused events.
All members of the team are expected to raise money to help pay team
expenses. Any athlete not raising $50 will not be eligible for invitational
competition, a JV certificate, or a varsity letter.
Anyone on a zone variance
and/or guardianship issues will need to see me ASAP. You may still participate, but only at the JV
level. If I am not notified, it could
result in a disqualification for the team.
Team pictures will be within
the first 2 weeks of practice. At that
time, uniforms will be issued.
The following has been
imposed for all athletic programs. All
athletes are expected to dress up at school the day of an away meet. For male athletes, dress slacks and a nice
shirt, and for female athletes, dress slacks/dress/skirt and blouse. For home meets, all athletes should wear
their Coronado Track & Field t-shirt.
Dress Code
for Practice and Meets
All athletes will have proper
attire for practice. This will include
proper running shoes and proper clothing.
Clothing must be warm enough. You may be excused from practicing that
day for violating this. It will count against you as an unexcused
practice.
All athletes will wear
Coronado sweats and uniforms at the meet.
If you are there as an athlete and not participating, you will be
expected to wear a school team shirt/sweat shirt.
All spandex worn under
uniforms must be one color.
Acceptable colors: navy or dark
blue, red, white, black, gray. Any other
color must be cleared by the head coach.
Competing athletes cannot
wear any type of jewelry (i.e. earrings, necklaces, rings, etc.). Wearing jewelry will result in being
disqualified from the event.
Any sexual harassment or
use of foul language will result in immediate disciplinary action and may
result in dismissal from the team. DO NOT TOUCH teammates in any way that could
be viewed as inappropriate and use APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE at all practices and
meets.
Personalized Sweats may be
purchased with your name printed on them.
See Track Clothing Order Form. They must be prepaid before you can order
them. The money is due back to Coach
Bolken or Coach Reed by _______________.
All team members are expected
to have a team t-shirt. A t-shirt will
be earned by meeting our fundraising goal.
Additional t-shirts may be purchased for $15.
Release
from Meets
Generally, this is
discouraged. Leaving meets takes away from the team aspect of track and field. If you need to be released, only your
parent/guardian may sign a waiver the day of the meet in order for you to be
released. No other friend or family
member may sign the release and you may not travel with anyone but your parent/guardian. You are expected to stay the entire meet and
go home on the bus or in the case of home meets, stay the entire time.
At a home meet ALL athletes are expected to
stay until the completion of the meet and help make sure our stadium is clean
and our equipment is taken care of.
It is now a requirement by
the district that all pole vaulters and parent/guardians sign a waiver. Please see Coach Kashka or Coach Bolken for
the form.
- If you have an
outstanding fee with the school, you will not
be able to participate in track. This is
a case by case issue and the coaches will address this with athletes
individually.
- Grades will need to be
satisfactory in order to participate. Your
grade will determine if you are able to practice.
