Classroom News

The classroom news page will generally be used to share important dates for the month. It will also be used to share curriculum notes for the upcoming week. I try to update our classroom website every Sunday evening.

23.....School liturgy; 2012/13 bus forms are due; 8th grade to Cedar Point

25-28...Memorial Day weekend--no school

29..... School in session/no bus transportation

30.....School liturgy; No AM bus; 8th grade graduation 

Curriculum Notes:

With the end of the year quickly approaching, there will be assessments in every subject either this week or next.

This week's topics include:

Math-

• Math test Monday
• rename metric units/choose appropriate unit of length, mass, or capacity
• find the area of a rectangle and a square

English-

• Biography presentations Monday
• Tall tale due Thursday  (a significant amount of time was given during class to work on both the biography and the tall tale)
• use proper punctuation and capitalization in addresses and letters
• English test May 31

Science--

• causes and effects of floods
• Lesson 5 quiz Thursday

Religion-

• chapter 12
• Bible workbook story 18
• Chapter 12 test June 1

Social Studies--

• use a map to interpret sequence of events during a battle
• describe results of battles in the South and West
• explain how the Americans won the war
• Chapter 8 testWednesday, May 30

Reading/Spelling--

• Lesson 19 test Tuesday
• Lesson 20 spelling, words from other languages, will be due and the test administered on May 31
• use apostrophes in contractions
• silently read selection/learn target vocabulary for Lesson 20
