MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS

CLASSROOM:

¨      Exchange of classes will be quiet, quick, and orderly. Be in your seat promptly, prepared to begin your class with all required materials.  Returning to homeroom for forgotten materials will not be allowed.

¨      Excessisive and unnecessary talking is to be avoided.  Concentration should be on your work.

¨      Assignments are to be turned in on the assigned due date, fully completed and at an appropriate grade level standard.  Students who do not have the assignment on the due date will be given one additional day to turn in the work with a grade loss of 5%.  Assignments will not be accepted for grading after this.  Assignments, even if no grade can be earned, will still be finished so that lesson objectives are reinforced.  A parent note stating extenuating circumstances for late turn in will always be considered.

¨      Homework assignments are to be recorded in the student’s planner each day.

¨      Absent work is due within the same amount of time as days absent.  If the absence was one day in length, then the student has one day to make up the work; two absent days – two days to make up work, etc.  After that, absent work will not be accepted.

¨      Cheating is defined as falsifying grades, copying from another student’s work, or supplying answers for another student to copy.  Using unauthorized materials during a test/quiz or making purposeful errors in correcting is also cheating.  Plagiarism is cheating.  Cheating will always result in a loss of grade for the assignment, quiz, or test.

¨      Restroom use should be confined to non-instructional time.  Only one restroom visit in the morning and one visit in the afternoon will be permitted each day.  Personal grooming is not permitted during class time.

¨      The writing and passing of notes is not permitted.

LUNCH:

¨      Behave in an orderly manner at lunchtime.  Respect all lunch aides at all times.

¨      St. Mary School will not be responsible for missing/lost personal radio/Walkmen/tape/CD/iPods player or electronic games/devices.  Electronic games may be used during indoor lunch periods only.  No radio/Walkmen/tape/CD/iPods player or electronic games/devices are permitted outside during lunch or at dismissal (bus line).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

All St. Mary School rule/guidelines apply to students while participating in the Shared Time, computer, and music classes.  These guidelines also apply during field trips, visits by guest speakers, etc.  Participation in extracurricular events will be contingent upon a student’s cooperation in the previously mentioned areas.  Report Card citizenship evaluations may be used as a determining factor in a student’s inclusion in extracurricular activities (i.e. Cedar Point, Student Council, etc.)
