Cape Cod Canal Trip

We visit the Cape Cod Canal Ranger Station and learn about how the US Army Corps of Engineers manages our important waterway. Scroll below to see photos of our field trip and to learn more about the canal.

We learn about the canal's history.  Did you know that George Washington wanted to build a canal here?  The Cape Cod Canal makes Cape Cod an island!  It is the largest "man-made" island in the world.  The Cape Cod Canal is the world's widest sea level canal!  Click on the website below to learn more about this wonderful waterway.

The Cape Cod Canal is a great "short-cut" and it prevented many shipwrecks by keeping ships safe from the dangerous shoals off the coast of Cape Cod.
