Expectations for Written Work

Jr. High English

Handwritten Assignments:

    • All writing should be legible
    • All final copies of essays should be completed in dark blue or black ink.
    • All final copies of essays should have a right-hand and a left-hand margin AND writing should only be on the front side. (Homework assignments may have writing on both sides of the paper.)
    • All paperwork turned in should have the student’s first AND last name.
    • All assignments turned in should be completed on notebook paper – not paper torn out of a spiral.
    • Vocabulary cards should have the definition written on one side and the vocabulary word on the other side AND should have the student’s name (or initials) written on EVERY card. Vocabulary cards must be on note cards – not torn paper.

Typed Assignments:

    • Only black ink should be used on plain white paper.
    • Double space your writing and use a 12 or 14 point simple font.
    • Rough drafts may not be typed.
    • Students will not be allowed extra time to submit work because of a technological problem. (For example, if your printer is broken and/or you couldn’t print your essay on any of the school computers.)
