Meet the Teacher

Welcome to my site! My name is Laura Stluka and I'm a graduate of Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University). I am married to Thomas Stluka and we have two children, Trevor and Ashley. Although I wasn't raised in Shiner, I moved here nineteen years ago and am proud to call it home.

I love teaching - especially jr. high students! It is NEVER boring! I teach English to 7th graders and Language Arts to 8th graders. I've been teaching long enough that I've begun teaching the children of those I've taught. It's very cool!

My time away from school is spent with my husband and children supporting them with their many activities. It's a real joy attending their practices, games and recitals. When I have free time to spend on MY interests, I  read -mysteries are a particular favorite- and scrapbook. I also enjoy spending time cooking and baking. My very favorite family activity is traveling. There's always a trip in the planning stages -sometimes near and sometimes far. Wherever we go or whatever we do, we try to share loads of laughs and love with each other and that's what I wish for you!
