Late Policy

Jr. High Policy
Students will have 20 points deducted for the first day an assignment is late and 10 additional points will be deducted for each day thereafter. These points will be deducted AFTER the assignment is graded. (Example: A student earns an 85 on an assignment BUT the assignment is 2 days late. The student would receive a grade of 55 which represents the 30-point penalty.)
Some assignments cannot be turned in late. For example, if a student is absent the day that AR is due, he is not allowed to earn points past the due date. Since students are given six weeks to earn their points, they all should have their points before the week of the deadline. Students who wait until the last week are gambling. As anyone who's been to Las Vegas can attest, if you gamble, you can lose... big time!
Both parents and students should also be reminded that assignments are due at the very beginning of class. Any assignment turned in after this time (even if it was complete and the student just could not find it) is considered late and a penalty will be assessed. Students should always place their homework in a specific place in their binder so that looking for homework shouldn't be a problem.
As always, if parents or students have specific questions about this policy, they are welcome to contact me.
