Grading Policy

I. Averages for junior high English will be calculated as follows:

30% daily grades
20% quiz grades
50% major test grades

Please note that the weight of the grade for each assignment is given at the time of the assignment. For example, some essays may count as a daily grade, others a quiz grade while still others will be counted as a major test grade.

The weight of some assignments stay constant. For example, Accelerated Reader points will always count as a major test grade.

Students will see their averages at least once a week and always after a major grade is recorded; therefore, each student should always have a clear idea of what his average is. Parents may request a progress report at any time and if it is desired to have one sent every Friday, please let me know and I will be happy to help. If you request to receive a weekly report, please sign it and have your child return it to me on Monday. Thanks!
