A Summer to Remember

Otis the Dragon lived in the country. He had never been away from his home but that was all about to change.  He decided that this year for his summer vacation he would  spend his summer at the beach. Even though he had never spent time at the beach  he was sure he would enjoy all of the different activities. He was looking forward to swimming in the ocean water. He also couldn't wait  to make sand castles, eat hotdogs on the boardwalk and make new friends.

On Otis’s first day of his vacation he met a friend named George. Otis and George played a game called “Bury the Dragon.” In this game Otis got to bury George in the sand. After that they went swimming in the ocean and Otis got bit by a crab. He was so upset he got bit by a crab that he laid down and fell asleep on his towel.

When Otis woke up he discovered that his new friend George was gone.Otis went to find him. He looked in every hotel on the beach. He didn't find him there. He was feeling hungry and the smell of the hotdogs and corndogs seemed to be calling his name. So as he walked towards the stand he saw George. He saw that George had a corndog and a hotdog in his hands. “Hi, Otis, which would you like a hotdog or a corndog?"

I would like a corn dog,” Otis said. As Otis was eating his corn dog he dropped it in the sand. Otis was sad but George shared his corn dog with him. Then they went to go buy ice cream. Otis got strawberry and George got chocolate.  The ice cream tasted delicious! After that they went to the arcade.

Otis and George were the best of friends and spent every day of the summer together. On the last day of their vacation they decided to go eat at the Beach Lagoon. George ordered crab but Otis refused to eat crab because of his first day at the beach, so he ordered shrimp salad. After dinner they gave each other a gift so that they would remember their summer together. Otis gave George a white wrist band with his name in big black letters. George gave Otis a picture of them together on the beach. They decided to spend their last night walking on the boardwalk  and riding all of the exciting rides.

First, Otis and George went on a fast roller coaster. Unfortunately, it was too fast for Otis because he felt sick afterwards. Next, they wanted to go on a more relaxing ride. They chose the ferris wheel. From the ferris wheel they could see all the rides and people. Then they went on the Merry-Go-Round. They sat together on the horse. Last, they went on an upside down roller coaster called Monster Surfing. This time Otis didn’t feel sick. They had a wonderful summer vacation together. They hope to go back to the beach again next summer.
