Cat Joins the Army Cat Joins the Army

We will be working with Mrs. Froke's class from Cardiff California as we team up to write a collobrative story.

On March 10th, we will begin the story. We will write the 1st paragraph and then email it to them so they can add their part. Each class will write 3 paragraphs.

I will post the story as we go along. Our part will be in red. theirs in blue.

   Cat Joins the Army

Once upon a time there was a cat named Buster. He had always wanted to join the Army but his mom always told him no.She was afraid it would be too dangerous for her only son but his dad told him to follow his dream.

One night Buster's mom and dad were asleep. He snuck out of the house and called a taxi. Buster hopped in the taxi and told the driver to go to the Army base. The taxi zoomed to the Army base and Buster got out. He couldn't believe his eyes...

Buster walked into the base and saw the biggest jet fighter he had ever seen. When he walked into the rifle range he saw so many different guns. He was scared but he still wanted to join the army. It was going to be morning in a few hours so Buster decided to find a nice warm place so he could rest up.

Buster looked around and started walking.  He walked a long way and finally saw a man.  This man happened to be a General.  Buster ran up to the General and asked, "Is there any place I can rest?"  The General replied, "Certainly!  Why don't you sleep under that tank, because it's really warm there."  So, Buster slept warmly under the tank.  Finally it was morning.  Buster saw the General again.  This time the General yelled, "Sign these papers, boy... and you'll be in the Army!"

Meanwhile at Buster's house his parents awake to find him gone. His mom thinks he is out enjoying breakfast with his friends but his dad knows better. Just at that moment the phone rang. Buster's mom picked up the phone and said. "Who is this?"
"This is the Genral speaking. Buster, your son just joined the Army. Congratulations!"

At the sound of the news Buster's mom fainted.

The General yelled into the phone, "HELLO, HELLO... IS THIS PHONE WORKING?"  Dad heard the strange sound, walked over, and picked up the phone.  Dad said, "Who is this?" and the General tells him what happened.  Mom got up and Dad told her he's going to join the Army with Buster.  Mom cried and said, "Good Luck!  Tell Buster I love him!  Be safe!"

Now that we have written the story and it has been made into a book the fun can begin! Each child will illustrate their copy of the book. Directions have been given to each child and the books are due back into school by  March 31st. I have put the directions on this page just in case you loose it.

Have fun!
