Frequently Asked Questions( FAQ) How much homework will my child have? Homework is assigned Monday - Thursdays. Students usually have Spelling and Math. It should take the average child about 15 minutes to complete. I will give your child a homework sheet on Monday which will have all assignments listed. Can my child bring a snack to school? Students will be permitted to eat a healthy snack at recess time. No drinks please, we only have time for a small snack. Students will be permitted to get a drink at the water fountain after they have their snack. . Will birthdays be celebrated in school? Birthdays are a very important part of a child's life so yes, students will be able to bring in a treat for the class. I will let parents know if we have an allergy or a diabetic in the class. Please let me know a few days ahead of time that a birthday treat will be coming into school. . How will I be know how well my child is doing? Each Monday I will send home a folder with your child's papers for the week. One group of papers I ask that you just remove and review, the other group I will ask you to sign and return. All of these paper will give you a good idea of how successful your child is in school. When can I see you for a conference? We do have regularly scheduled conferences but there are times when you may want to see me. You can send me a note, call the school, or email me and we can set up a conference. It would help me if you let me know when you are available and then a time can be scheduled. What if my child is absent? It's important that students are in school every day possible. When illness occurs and it's only for 1 day then your child can make up the work when they return. If the absence is over a few days or the weekend is coming up then you can have a friend, or sibling pick up the work. Just have the child stop in my room in the morning to let me know they will be bringing it home. If there is no one to bring it then the parent may call the office and I will make sure by the end of the day the work is waiting for you to pick it up. Please make sure that you send in a note when your child returns to school. Any other questions? Email me and I will gladly answer them.
