Sight Words

Sight words are very important in First Grade. These are words that the children need to know immediately, without hesitation or sounding out, in order to become successful readers. They should practice all lists daily, paying particular attention to the latest list. All words should be practiced out of order so that the children can master them.
I am including a section on sight word practice games that may help your child find practicing these more fun. I am also attaching a file of strategies to use when you don't know a word.
