Sixth Grade Biotechnology

Welcome to a World of Science and Technology

We become what we do.  This year we will become scientists and biotechnologists by doing what scientists and biotechnologists do.  We will create experiments like scientists do and practice our laboratory skills.

We start the year with a unit on soap bubbles.  After we develop the skill to follow scientific recipes called procedures, we will design an experiment to find the best (optimum) soap bubble mix using only two ingredients (water and liquid detergent).  We will then create a laboratory procedure that will allow us to reliably compare a variety of different soap bubble recipes.  Once perfected we will then design tests of common additives to strengthen our soap bubbles.
