Happenings in Room 4-11

MATH Our third chapter is an investigation of multiplication and division facts. They are now in a comfort zone from their experience in third grade math classes. Again, there is an investigation of algebra. The children will learn how to write algrebraic expressions using multiplication and division. They will also learn how to solve equations with 1 or 2 variables using multiplication and division. Solving algebraic word problems will also be part of this chapter. As you can see, this is a jam-packed chapter with work that is very comfortable and familiar to the children and work that will be a whole new experience for them. Extra Help Math classes will begin on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 7:30 AM until 8:00 AM. 
ENGLISH Our new unit in Reading includes an investigation of nouns. The children will be identifying nouns, identifying singular and plural nouns, along with differentiating between common and proper nouns. They will also investigate possessive nouns. This is quite a bit for the next few weeks but one that I know they can handle.u
