Week of Nov. 17 – 21 , 2008

Language Arts: We will start our new theme: Family and Friends.  Our strategy focuses for the week are summarizing and drawing conclusions from what we read.  Spelling words are short o words, (box, fox) for the test and consonant clusters with l (glass, blanket) in class.  We will also be discussing family words and exclamatory words / sentences.  In grammar, students will be determining the difference between a phrase and a complete sentence.  Please practice reading the high-frequency words: children, come, family, father, love, mother, people, picture, your. 

Math:  We will continue with Chapter 3 this week in math.  Students will solve problems finding the unknown partners with subtraction stories with money and Math Mountains.

Social Studies:  Students are learning about the first Thanksgiving.

Health: The Great Body Shop

Science:  We will begin our new unit on Solids and Liquids this week.  We will discuss the characteristics and properties of solids and liquids.  We will discuss similarities and differences through our scientific studies.
