News You Can Use:

What you as a parent can do to help your child:

Reading:

  • Read with them daily
  • Re-read books -Researchers have shown that repeated readings help children internalize stories and understand them in greater detail. They also reinforce language patterns and story sequencing (Mayers, 2010)
  • Ask questions related to story

Math:

  • Practice Telling Time using an analog clock and digital clock
  •     -- Telling time to hour & half an hour
  • Count & Identify coins with them anychance you get, as we all know...it is a very important skill :)
  • Practice math facts with child (make it fun by making a memory game, flashcards, or exploring the kid websites I have attached under Parent & Kid Friendly Websites section)
  • Memorizing math facts will only help make adding and subtracting easier and faster for students.
