How to Choose Books

…Choose Books to Read Together

   Look for: 

• characters you can care about
• plots that grip you
• a world you can believe in
• a book you enjoy reading
• a book your child would have trouble reading on his/her own

Look in:

• the Children’s library of East Longmeadow
• the bookstore’s “new arrivals” table in the children’s section
• the children’s tab of an online bookstore
• www.reading.org recommended
• reading/parent booklets and pamphlets 

Ask: 

• the children’s librarian at school or at the public library
• friends who are reading to their children
• relatives
• your child’s teacher
