Reading Counts Reading Counts: Each student takes a computerized test to establish their independent reading level. They are required to read and successfully complete 10 points per month within their lexile range. They can pick books that are 50 points above their lexile or 100 points below their lexile level. Students may select books each week in the school and classroom libraries. The books they read to complete their weekly 150 minutes for the reading log CAN be the same books they take reading counts test on.
