Week of November 2nd-November 4th
Language and Concept: Introduce letter Ff and its sound. Review letters A-E. Match capital letters to lower case letters. Reinforce rhyming words. This week we’re also going to begin preparing for Thanksgiving by learning about Pilgrims and Native Americans.
Social Studies: The children will learn about community workers as well as other occupations. We will discuss the roles and responsibilities of workers. This week we will focus on fire fighters and police officers. We’ll also study fire prevention and safety.
Math: Practice counting to 40. Introduce numeral 7.
Religion: Gospel Theme: “Jesus wants everyone to belong.”
Art: Fish
Week of November 11th-13th
Language and Concept: A letter will not be introduced this week. We will spend much of our time preparing for Thanksgiving by making crafts and learning more about this holiday. We are going to make a Thanksgiving words booklet--the children will practice copying words and identifying letters in words.
Social Studies: Continue the unit on workers and occupations.
Math: Introduce 8. Practice counting to 40. Practice writing numerals 1-8.
Religion: Gospel Theme: “God gives and sustains life”
Art: Thanksgiving art projects
Friday, November 13th--Field trip to the downtown fire station with our 5th grade buddies. Leave at 9:15.
Week of November 16th-20th
Language and Concept: Introduce letter Gg. Review letters A-F and practice identifying their sounds. Review rhyming words and opposites. Practice listening for initial sounds in words.
Social Studies: Continue the unit on workers and occupations. Continue learning about Native Americans, Pilgrims, and the first Thanksgiving.
Math: Introduce 9. Practice counting to 50. Practice writing numerals 1-9 and identifying them.
Religion: Gospel Theme: “Thank you, God!”
Art: Gift
Week of November 23rd-27th
On Monday and Tuesday of this week we will complete any remaining projects to
prepare for Thanksgiving.
There is NO SCHOOL on November 25th, 26th, and 27th.
