Fuel Up To Play 60 Comes to Capt. Isaac Paine School!

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a free, student-powered, in-school nutrition and physical activity program brought ot our school by the National Dairy Council, local Dairy Councils and the National Football League!  Our 5th Grade Leadership Team has been working hard planning a "Kickoff" event to encourage all students at Paine School to "Fuel Up To Play 60!"

February is Dental Month!

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):

"Tooth decay (dental caries) affects children in the United States more than any other chronic infectious disease. Untreated tooth decay causes pain and infections that may lead to problems; such as eating, speaking, playing, and learning."

You can read more about the importance of dental care at the site below...

Vision Screenings....

view details

I have sent vision referral forms to parents of those students that had difficulty with the vision screening.  Please check my sub page labeled "Free Eye Exams and Glasses Available" for information about a program called Sight for Students which pays for vision exams and eyeglasses if needed for eligible children.

Just a Reminder About Classroom Celebrations....

Because the Foster School District supports a healthy environment, we are recommending non-food or healthy-food classroom celebrations.  Please visit:

http://www.thriveri.org/documents/5.12_Healthy_Celebrations.pdf

for some great ideas for healthy celebrations in the classroom!

Please speak to your child's teacher at least 2 days ahead if you are planning to bring in any food that will be shared with the class.

Lets all stay healthy this winter season and......

"Spread the Word, Not the Germs!"

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta) recognizes handwashing as the single most effective way to prevent the transmission of disease!  Please remember the Principles of Hand Awareness and reinforce them with your children to help keep us all healthy this winter!

1. Wash your hands when they are dirty and before eating.

Don't forget to use soap and scrub for at least 15 seconds before rinsing!

2. Do not cough or sneeze into your hands!

If you don't have a tissue, use your sleeve to keep the germs from spreading through the air!

3. Above all, avoid putting your fingers into your eyes, nose or mouth!
