"O Glorious St. Joseph, Foster Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
And true spouse of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, Pray for us."
Some Important Reminders:
* Please be sure to send a written note following your child's absence giving
specific dates and reasons for absences. These and other time-sensitive
matters should be written and sent in by note, not e-mail. The same is
true of change-of-dismissal notes. Thank you.
* Each student should have a supply of loose leaf paper which is replenished
as needed. A supply of pencils and pens is also wise.
* The cold and virus season seems to have been extended. We have exhausted
our supply of tissues that you generously supplied. We ask that you send in
another box to hold us until the end of the year. Any that are left will be
sent on to the 6th grade for next year. Thank you very much.
* Our Bird Feeding Project goes well. We have been visited by an entertaining
variety of birds including several by a hawk. (Although, he wan't looking for
seed!) We appreciate donations of bird seen or suet cakes. Thanks, again.
* We are looking forward to the first signs of our successful tulip planting
project from last Fall. We are hoping for a nice variety of spring flowers!
Lent - The Church's Springtime!
A good story to consider during this time of renewal......
This story has been a cherished folktale by many cultures and like all folktales is
meant to both entertain and make us think. It goes like this......
Many years ago in a far land, a village became infected by the problem of
gossip. It all started when a young many who did not have a disagreement settled his way. Everyone joined in without even knowing of the orignal problem. Reputations were damaged, businesses nearly ruined, and constant suspicion reigned. When his own reputation was suddenly in question, the orginal young man realized his fault and sought to repair the damage. No amount of apologizing and pleading made the villagers stop. Finally, the young man sought out a hermit who lived outside the village and was known for his wisdom and goodness. "What can I do to stop the gossip?" asked the young man. The wise hermit told him to go home and bring back a pillow. The young many quickly returned with his wife's best feather pillow. Together, the young man and the hermit climed to the highest mountain overlooking the village. "Now," directed the wise hermit, "cut open the pillow and empty it." The wind scattered the feathers like a blizzard! "Now go and collect each feather," said the hermit. "That is impossible!" cried the young man. The wise hermit answered quietly, "And that is the problem with your rumors and gossip.
