Kelso the Frog

Problem-Solving Skills            

Kelso the frog is introduced to all students at George G. Blaisdell Elementary School.  These problem-solving guidance lessons teach students how to solve small problems using 9 choices on the Kelso chart.  Students also learn that BIG problems, such as a dangerous situation, are only for trusting adults to take care of.  Kelso charts are posted in all of the classrooms for students to utilize whenever they have a small problem to solve on their own.

Kelso teaches us 9 choices to solve small problems:

1) Apologize

2) Walk Away

3) Ignore It

4) Tell Them To Stop

5) Make A Deal

6) Wait and Cool Off

7) Go To Another Game

8) Talk It Out

9) Share and Take Turns
