What is so good about reading to children?

Reading to your child is the single most valuable thing you can do. Why?

• it gives experience of different types of language, rhythms and sounds
• research shows that pre-school children who are exposed to plenty of language (books and conversation) tend to do better at school
• it teaches about many topics which wouldn't come up in conversation
• it is a wonderful way to bond with your child
• it is very calming

Here you will find books and book themes by month. We will list types of books (wordless books, rhyming books, etc.) as well as specific book titles , Goodnight Moon , The Very Hungry Caterpillar , etc. We will also list our Author Study books here for you as well.

Take time to look at this each week - we will change it often - "Trade" books are a vital component to our program in kindergarten and the more cross over the kids can get - the more familiar they become with all kinds of books - the better readers - and learners they will become.
