The students of Grade Six will be exploring the rich history of the Eastern Hemisphere.  They began their studies with a practice of map skills and use of geographical tools.  Over the course of the school year, the classes will examine the ancient cultures of India, Egypt, Greece, Mesopotamia, China, and Rome.

Grade Seven students started the year with a look at the physical regions of North America.  Their work will lead them through such topics as: the first civilizations to develop in North America, the arrival/impact of Europeans, the rivalry between colonial powers, lifestyles and hardships of colonists, the American Revolution, our framework for a democratic system of government, the growth of industry, western expansion, and the political issues that led to the Civil War.

Eighth Grade students began the year with a chapter focused on the social tensions, legislation, and judicial decisions that contributed to the secession of southern states, and ultimately, the Civil War.  They are excited by the schedule of topics, which will lead them through World War II and the Cold War Era.
