Meet Mrs. Jones

 Why a teacher?  The entire reason for me wanting to become the best second grade teacher that I can be is because I was blessed with the best myself. Mrs. Peterson was my second grade teacher and I can close my eyes and see myself sitting in her room. I can envision my friends and I racing down the hall on Monday mornings to see who was the new star. She loved every child and treated all students equally. She is my inspiration to be a wonderful teacher. And if in 30 years from now when I do retire, if I can look back and know that I tried to be everything she was then I will be content.

This is my 4th year teaching the 2nd grade and I have to say I am a second grader at heart. I graduated in 2006 from Stockton College with a BA in Sociology/Anthropology. I continued with my education and graduated again from Stockton with a BA in Elementary Education. While at Stockton I focused on Language Arts, making me highly qualified in LA for grades 5-8. Throughout college I substituted at numerous schools but fell in love with only one. I was fortunate enough to get the 2nd grade position here at DTES. I am currently enrolled back at Stockton College to continue my education.
