Zero Tolerance Errors List

Period 1 and Period 6/2009-2010

·         Run on sentences or fragments

·         Lack of uniform and mature style in a paragraph, including too many simple sentences, lack of flow   or transition from one sentence to another, or one paragraph to another, or awkward/incorrect syntax

·         Too much retelling of the selection read, especially without text analysis

·         Agreement problems, nonparallel structure of words, clauses, phrases

·         Inconsistent verb tense

·         Improper possessive forms

·         Obvious comma errors

·         “Hanging” quotations (quotations from the text which you are using to support your response, but the quotation  is not explained, nor is the reason why you selected it clear to the reader)

·         Incorrect format for quotations taken from the reading selection  and used to support your response

·         Use of passive voice

·         Improper use of informal language, or any form of text message type spelling

·         Failure to write a complete, well-thought out response, paragraph, or essay

·         Failure to answer the question, essay topic. or prompt
