How To Use This Workbook

1.         Find a quiet place to work.

2.        Read the selection(s) assigned.

3.        As you read, practice SELECTIVE UNDERLINING.  Write marginal notes as you read.

4.        After reading, answer the questions.  Read all multiple choice options and pick THE BEST ONE.

5.        Refer to the guide for answering SHORT AND EXTENDED RESPONSES.

6.        Use legible handwriting.

7.        Write in complete sentences.

8.        Bring the workbook on the assigned dates for discussion/grading.

FCAT READ THINK EXPLAIN SHORT RESPONSE GUIDE

 A short response is worth 2 points.  There must be 2 details from the text you read, placed correctly and EXPLAINED by you ( in your own words), to receive the full point value.  Your short response needs:

 A TOPIC SENTENCE using KEY WORDS from the question.  DO NOT RESTATE THE ENTIRE QUESTION.

DETAIL #1, followed by your comment on DETAIL #1.

DETAIL #2, followed by your comment on DETAIL #2.
