We will be studying the Geography of the United States. We will read about the different regions of the United States, and will be tested by region. I have given students a blank map page. I suggest that students copy this map and use it as a practice map by randomly placing numbers on the states (one region at a time). Then using a sheet of looseleaf, make two columns, states, and capitals. Then practice naming the states and capitals in this manner. We will also be studying Early Russia. Russia was once a growing country, and not a major world power. For centuries, it suffered from an identity crisis due to its location half in Europe and half in Asia. While the country's roots lay in Slavic and Scandinavian origins, it nearly always existed separate from the West. There will not be a test on this unit. Students will have an in-class project to culminate this unit.
