Curriculum

Religion: We work with the Blest Are We Series which focuses on the study of the sacraments in fifth grade. Our religion instruction does not end there. Religion is a part of all we do and we are always involving the children in Masses, prayer services and service projects.

Math:   With the NYS Math test approaching , we are working on measurement, perimeter and area as well as reviewing basic fraction and decimal concepts.

Science: We are currently studying rocks and the study of the structure of the earth.  We will then go on to the study of space.

Social Studies:  Fifth grade social studies begins with the study of geography and the history of the Native Americans. We then learn about explorers and the establishment of colonies. We study the American Revolution and setting up of our government. The highlight of the year is our State Fair. The children each research a state and become ambassadors for their state at a huge gathering in April. The year ends with the study of Canada and our Latin American neighbors.
